Places of interest in Bath, BA2
It is located on the London-Bristol and Bristol-Southampton trunk routes and is 10 miles (16 km) east of Bristol Temple Meads. The station opened on 18 February 1929,[1] though the line through the site had opened in 1840. To some extent it replaced an earlier station at Twerton,[1] three-quarters of a mile to the west, which had closed, ostensibly temporarily, in the First World War and which had been badly affected by competing bus and tram services. The Twerton station never reopened.
The station building like the viaduct on which it sits is a Grade II listed structure, but was boarded up as of May 2006 and appears to be abandoned. A roadside cafe operates from its forecourt, but does not occupy any original parts of the station.
The electoral wards of the Bath and North East Somerset unitary authority within Bath are the central Abbey, Kingsmead and Walcot wards, and the more outlying Bathwick, Combe Down, Lambridge, Lansdown, Lyncombe, Newbridge, Odd Down, Oldfield, Southdown, Twerton, Westmoreland, Weston and Widcombe wards.[44]
Kilmersdon Road Quarry (grid reference ST689542) is a 0.43 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest near the town of Radstock, Bath and North East Somerset, notified in 1954.
The barn was blessed as a church on the 17 May 1913.
