Adams Park

Adams Park, (known as The Causeway Stadium between 2003 and 2006) is a football stadium in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. It is the home ground of the team Wycombe Wanderers and Guinness Premiership Rugby team London Wasps.

London Wasps

It was announced in 2007 that a joint venture between Wasps, Wycombe Wanderers and Wycombe District Council would fund a new stadium in the High Wycombe area. The favoured site for the new stadium now appears to be Wycombe Air Park, a 208-acre (0.84 km2) site owned by Wycombe District Council and close to the M40 motorway.[14] The site is currently leased as an airfield but the lease expires in 2014 and potentially could be taken back earlier. The loose plans are that it would be 16-17,000 capacity, with a terraced section (it would be the first new football ground in England with terraced section since the Taylor Report). The development would also included retail, hotel, conference and other facilities. Wasps and Wanderers funding would primarily be from Steve Hayes, who had become a 25% share holder through a £250,000 investment in Wycombe Wanderers in June 2004, when the football club became a plc company;[15] and later became managing director.[16] Hayes bought an 11.6% stake in London Wasps Holdings Ltd in August 2007,[17][18] and became chairman of Lawrence Dallaglio's benefit committee.[19] In December 2008, Hayes bought Wright's controlling interest and John O'Connell's share holding in Wasps to take complete control.[20][21]

Downley

Downley was extensively built up in the 1950s-60s and is still in constant flux now, with the parish boundary being extended. The Village Hall built circa 1920 is still very much in use and the old School, built in the 1870s is also still in use. There were also furniture making factories in the village as well as home workshops. A practice which was common in the Chilterns as High Wycombe and surrounding towns were large producers of furniture, in particular chairs from the Industrial Revolution onwards.

Queen Elizabeth Bridge, Windsor

The Queen Elizabeth Bridge is a road bridge just to the west of the town of Windsor, Berkshire, England.

Clewer

The name Clewer comes from the word 'Clifwara' meaning 'Cliff-Dwellers' and is named after those who lived below the hill on which Windsor Castle was built. Historically, Clewer pre-dates New Windsor and still exists as a separate ecclesiastical parish. A Saxon settlement existed there, and it is thought that the settlement of Clewer may have grown up at a place where the river Thames could be forded. A wood-and-thatch Saxon church is believed to have existed on the site of the present church. The surviving font is thought to be Saxon, and is presumed to have belonged to the earlier church. Until the 1850s this font was in an improbable position at the west end of the north aisle and it is likely that it had never been moved from its position in the earlier Saxon church.
