Fishcross is a small village in Clackmannanshire in central Scotland, situated to the north of Sauchie at a crossroads just south of Tillicoultry. Formerly a mining village, the population is 484 as at 2003. [1]
The town has both a primary school and a secondary school. Alva Academy takes pupils from several primary schools in the Hillfoots area. The school was relocated on a new campus early in 2009. The new Alva Academy has been built at the end of Greenhead, a street on the south-east side of the town. [4] There is an active chaplaincy team at the Academy and also a thriving Scripture Union club for young adults looking for further answers to the pressing questions of life.

It is home to Tunnock's factory, famed for its caramel wafers and teacakes. The factory contributes much to the village's economy as does the industrial estate located on the Bellshill Road. In earlier times mining was a major industry, with the long lost village of Flemington an example of a settlement that failed to survive following the closure of its pit.
The Jacobites were in Bridge of Allan in 1745, where three hundred highlanders set up a roadblock on the bridge and charged a toll for its passage.
