This station on the Glasgow and South Western Railway line to Stonehouse via Strathaven, closed in 1964.
Inchinnan hosts an art deco style category A listed building called India of Inchinnan, the former office block of the India Tyres of Inchinnan factory which occupied the site from 1927 until the early 1980s. It has now been renovated into private offices. India Tyres also built two groups of houses to accommodate its workers: Allands Avenue and India Drive. Prior to its use as a tyre factory, the site was used by William Beardmore and Company to build airships in World War I; the Inchinnan Airship Constructional Station. Several airships, the No's R24, R27, R34 and the R36 were built on this site. The company built 52 houses in Inchinnan, at Beardmore Cottages, to house its workers.
Shieldhall lies between Renfrew and Drumoyne and is close to Braehead. It includes the site of the King George V Dock and Shieldhall sewage treatment works, which are owned by Scottish Water. The sewage works originally opened in 1910 and were rebuilt in 1980. It is one of three such facilities in the city, along with Dalmarnock and Daldowie.
Coppicing of the riverside alder trees is still carried out. Alders grow well in wet soils and are specially adapted for the low nutrient conditions through having large root nodules containing nitrogen-fixing bacteria which enrich the soil in the same way as clover plants and other legumes.
Today there is no trace of this station, and the site is occupied by Caley House (named after L&AR owners Caledonian Railway) and the Cornerstone Church. A large viaduct at the extreme north of the town is the only physical reminder that Kilwinning was once served by this line.
