Rossendale Valley

The Rossendale Valley is part of the Forest of Rossendale, an upland area of North West England, principally in Lancashire. Most of the area is within the Borough of Rossendale. It consists of the steep-sided valleys of the River Irwell and its tributaries, which flow from the Pennines southwards into Greater Manchester and cut through the open unwooded moorland, which is characteristic of the area, despite the ancient designation of "forest".

Darwen

The new leisure centre opened on 29 January 2010 and features a 25-metre, 8-lane swimming pool, children's pool, activity rooms, a gym with 80 pieces of equipment, a large health suite, a cafe and a 63-space car park. The Roman Baths style facade was rebuilt next to the White Lion Pub providing a freestanding archway. To many residents of the town, the new leisure centre is a great success, but to a minority the architectural design of the building is disliked and the fact that the large windows of the swimming pool look out onto the road, where passers by and standing traffic can easily see in, is a concern., October 2010

Blackamoor, Lancashire

Blackamoor is a village in Lancashire, England, to the south of Blackburn. It is located on the cross-roads between Lower Darwen and Guide, Lancashire where the B6231 crosses the old Roman Road from Manchester to Ribchester.

85 feet (25.9 m) in height, walkers can climb to the top via the internal staircase to admire the views of North Yorkshire, Morecambe Bay, Blackpool Tower, Cumbria, the Isle of Man, North Wales, Derbyshire elsewhere in Lancashire, and surrounding moorland.
