Burnley

Although Burnley does not have an Airport, there are 4 international airports within an hour's travel of the town. These are Manchester Airport at 31 miles (50 km), Liverpool John Lennon Airport at 41 miles (66 km) and Leeds Bradford Airport at 24 miles (39 km), & Blackpool Airport at 33 miles (53 km)

Turf Moor

The plans came to fruition after the war, and the Longside was completed in 1954. The club spent £20,000 (£408,000 as of 2010) on the roof alone and the terrace was built using help from players in the Burnley youth team.[10] Three years later, the club also installed permanent floodlights at Turf Moor. The lights were first used on 16 December 1957, when Burnley hosted rivals Blackburn Rovers in a friendly.[11] On 16 November 1960, the stadium was the venue of Burnley's first ever match in the European Cup. Jimmy Robson and Jimmy McIlroy both scored early in the first half as Burnley recorded a 2?0 victory over Stade de Reims.[12] In 1969, a new, bigger stand was built at a cost of £180,000 (£2.21 million as of 2010) at the Cricket Field End that incorporated changing rooms and a players' tunnel, which had previously been a part of the Brunshaw Road stand.[10] Under-seat heating was installed in the Cricket Field End, but after the first time it was used, chairman Bob Lord deemed it uneconomical and expensive, and it was never again switched on.[13]

Todmorden

Medieval Todmorden had consisted of the townships of Langfield and Stansfield in Yorkshire, and Todmorden/Walsden section of the greater township of Hundersfeld in the Ancient Parish of Rochdale, Lancashire. The township of Todmorden and Walsden was created in 1801 by the union of the older villages of Todmorden and Walsden.

Walsden

Walsden has a cricket club that is one of the two Yorkshire teams playing in the major Lancashire Leagues, the other being Todmorden Cricket Club.

Bacup

Bacup has been used as a filming location for the 1980s BBC TV police drama Juliet Bravo, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, parts of The League of Gentlemen and much of the film Girls' Night. Elements of the BBC TV drama Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit were also filmed on location in Bacup.[citation needed]
