Maryport

Today, after a series of major regeneration projects, prospects for the town are looking better.

Penrith, Cumbria

Penrith has been noted for the number of wells in and around the town, and well-dressing ceremonies were commonplace on certain days in the month of May. Three miles south-east of the town, on the River Eamont are the "Giants' caves", where the well was dedicated to St. Ninian. The caves are enlarged out of Lower Permian sandstones and their associated breccias and purple shales.

Derwent Park

The stadium was opened in 1956. The record attendance at Derwent Park was set in 1965 when 17,741 spectators turned up for a third round Challenge Cup match against Wigan. Floodlights were installed in 1990 and were first used for a Cumbria versus Australia match on the 1990 Kangaroo Tour and also hosted the opening game of the 1994 Kangaroo Tour between Cumbria and Australia. Derwent Park staged the New Zealand Māori versus Samoa game in the 2000 Rugby League World Cup.
