Places of interest in Berwick upon Tweed, TD15
Berwick Bandits 1st spell at Shielfield Park was between 1968 and 1980, in which arguments with Berwick Rangers forced the Bandits to find a new home. Eventually in 1982 this was Berrington Lough near Ancroft, Northumberland. The club moved back into Berwick in 1996 and have remained there ever since, enjoying much success during this time and good crowd attendances.

The bridge became less important for road traffic as the main route moved westwards, first to the concrete Royal Tweed Bridge built in the 1920s, and then in the 1980s a bypass took the A1 road out of Berwick altogether. The bridge is now one way, from east to west (i.e. from Berwick towards Tweedmouth). The one-way plan is likely to be permanent and has met with little resistance from local businesses, indeed the quieter nature of Bridge Street has presented businesses with the opportunity to close the street on particular Sundays and host fayres offering local produce, goods etc.
The castle was rebuilt in the late 16th century. A new five-storey east range was built into the side of the rock, and the gatehouse was rebuilt, this time with a permanent stone bridge. The upper part of the east range was renovated in 1622, with renaissance details and carving to door and window surrounds. Roslin suffered again from the artillery of Cromwell?s commander in Scotland, General Monck, in 1650. It was further damaged by a Reforming mob in 1688.[5]
Rosslyn Chapel, properly named the Collegiate Chapel of St Matthew, was founded on a small hill above Roslin Glen as a Roman Catholic collegiate church (with between 4 and 6 ordained canons and two boy choristers) in the mid-15th century. Rosslyn Chapel and the nearby Roslin Castle are located at the village of Roslin, Midlothian, Scotland.
