How to Create Your Moving Budget
One of the best ways to achieve a stress and hassle free move is through estimating your moving costs. You may prepare a spreadsheet and list down all your moving essentials. By doing so, you will be assured that you have everything all accounted for.

You may start budgeting by assessing how much you are willing and able to spend for the entire process. You should not run out of cash just because of this endeavour. Check your bank accounts and see if you can spend a portion of your savings.

Steps in creating a moving budget

If your savings account will not be enough for the big move, you may consider selling some items. Conduct a garage sale within your neighbourhood. Dispose heavy items that usually add up to the cost of the move. As you establish your primary sources for your moving endeavours, you may proceed to the following steps:

1. List down fixed costs pertinent to the move. This will usually include final utility bills in your old homes as well as cleaning and repairs needed before selling your property.

2. Contact moving companies for a detailed computation of costs. Make sure you also ask about hidden charges such as fees for heavier furniture, insurance costs and packing fees.

3. Enumerate costs that may arise during the trip. Meals, hotel accommodations and transportation fees...these are just some of the costs that may arise during your travel to your new home.

4. Determine possible costs for storage and packing supplies. This may include hiring of self-storage units and purchasing of moving boxes and other packing materials.

You may make some estimates in your moving budget. Perhaps, you may also add a miscellaneous section for other expenses that are pertinent to your move.
