Places of interest in Winchmore Hill, N21
Like other extensions of the London Underground lines, the opening of the Cockfosters extension stimulated the rapid development of new suburbs and much of the open countryside that existed in 1930 when construction started was quickly covered by new housing developments.
Bus routes 121, 125, 298, 299, 382, 628, 688, 699, W6, 616 and N91 serve Southgate Station.
Earlsfield railway station (Earlsfield) is in the London Borough of Wandsworth in south London. The station, which is in Travelcard Zone 3, is operated by South West Trains, as are all the trains serving it. The name 'Earlsfield' originates from the name of the large Victorian residence formerly on the present site of the station. When the site was sold by the Davis family to the railway company one of the conditions of sale was that the station would be called 'Earlsfield'.
The current Mayor is Cllr Prof. Brian N.C. Prichard C.B.E.. He follows his father, grandfather and uncle in holding the office in the area. His predecessors held the office as Mayor of Battersea. His mayoral charities for the year are the Boys' Brigade, Girls Brigade, Scouts and Guides.
The company was founded as a brewery in 1831 by Charles Young and Anthony Bainbridge when they purchased the Ram Brewery in Wandsworth. The company closed the Ram Brewery in 2006, and the brewing operation was transferred to a new company, Wells & Young's Brewing Company Ltd, which is a joint brewing venture with Charles Wells Brewery. Though Young's own 40% shares in the new company, and there is an agreement for Young's to take beers produced by Wells & Young's, the new company is independent.[2][3][4]
