Chichester has services to London Victoria via Gatwick Airport, Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton, Littlehampton and long-distance services to Wales and the west country.
Chichester Castle stood in the city of Chichester, West Sussex (grid reference SU863052).[1] Shortly after the Norman Conquest of England, Roger de Montgomerie, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, ordered the construction of a castle at Chichester. The castle at Chichester was one of 11 fortified sites to be established in Sussex before 1100. The Rape of Chichester, a subdivision of Sussex, was administered from the castle and was split off from the larger Rape of Arundel; a Rape was an administrative unit invented by the Normans.[2] Situated in the north-east corner of Chichester, the castle was protected by the city walls. As it was an urban castle inserted into a pre-existing settlement, buildings were probably cleared to make way for the castle. Chichester Castle was of timber construction; although some timber castles were rebuilt in stone, there is no evidence that this was the case at Chichester Castle.[3]
Chichester (pronounced /Ë?tÊ?ɪtÊ?ɨstÉ?/) is a cathedral city in West Sussex, South-East England. It has a long history as a settlement; its Roman past and its subsequent importance in Anglo-Saxon times are only its beginnings. It is the seat of a bishopric, with a 12th century cathedral, and is home to some of the oldest churches and buildings in Great Britain.
The London Borough of Hillingdon ( pronunciation (help·info)) is the westernmost borough in Greater London, England. It is home to London Heathrow Airport and Brunel University.
Around 2004 British Airways consolidated several offices into Waterside. Waterside's employee population increased to about 4,000. To deal with the parking situation, British Airways began limiting on-site parking to four days per week, and a Commuter Centre was established.[8]
