Brixton tube station

There has been speculation regarding the possibility of extending the Victoria line past Brixton and put in a loop which trains would run around with a single-platform station under Herne Hill mainline station, speeding up operations on the line by reducing the number of conflicting train movements at the scissors crossover. As the Victoria line is already very heavily loaded and would not cope well with any extra passengers such considerations may well prevent such a plan going any further.[citation needed]

Brockwell Park

The park also commands views of the skyline of the city and Central London. At the top of the hill within the park stands Brockwell Hall.

Brixton (HM Prison)

In January 2001, an inspection report from Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Prisons severely criticised conditions at Brixton Prison. The report claimed that staff had falsified records and tried to sabotage the inspection. Standards of healthcare and race relations within the prison were also criticised.[5]

New Cross Stadium

New Cross Stadium, Hornshay Street, Old Kent Road , in South East London was opened in the early 1900s as an athletic stadium but was mainly used for greyhound racing and speedway. The ground was adjacent to the The Den,[1] the home of Millwall F.C. and was used as a training ground by the club when they did not have facilities of their own. The track was often referred to as 'The Frying Pan'. It was built inside the greyhound track and had banking all the way round.[2]
