Eden, High Wycombe

Eden is a shopping and entertainment complex in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire in the south east of England. With a floor area of 850,000 square feet (79,000 m2), it is the 28th largest shopping centre in the United Kingdom and the largest in the surrounding area. The centre includes 107 shops, a bowling alley, a cinema and a library (which opened on 3 June 2008), as well as parking for 1600 cars on site with Car Parking other car parks available nearby[2]. The complex is part of a major regeneration of High Wycombe in a bid to transform the town into a regional shopping destination. The complex includes a new bus station and 48 modern residential apartments. The shopping centre opened on 13 March 2008, the bus station opening earlier in July 2006.

RAF Daws Hill

RAF Daws Hill is a Royal Air Force base on the outskirts of High Wycombe, in Buckinghamshire, England; it is on the road towards Flackwell Heath, off the A404 road and adjacent to the M40 motorway. (RAF is pronounced as separate letters.)

High Wycombe

Wycombe's most famous industry, furniture (particularly chairs) took hold in the 19th century, with furniture factories setting up all over the town. Many terraced workers houses were built to the east and west of town to accommodate those working in the furniture factories. In 1875, it was estimated that there were 4,700 chairs made per day in High Wycombe. The town's population grew from 13,000 residents in 1881, to 29,000 in 1928. When Queen Victoria visited the town in 1877, the council organised an arch of chairs to be erected over the High Street, with the words "Long live the Queen" printed boldly across the arch for the Queen to pass under. Wycombe was completely dominated socially and economically by the industry and, consequently, there was considerable unemployment and social problems when the industry declined in the 1960s.

Adams Park

Wycombe District Council also outlined long-term plans for the regeneration of the Abbey Barn area of the town which include a possible 20,000 capacity stadium near the current site of the Wycombe Heights dry ski slope. These would be plans are in the very early stages and are not intended to be realised for around 20 years.

Downley

Downley was once home to several farms, the largest of these stopped working in the 1990s but can be plainly seen from commonside with its huge barns and unusual listed farm house.
