In June 2009, Adnams signed a 5-year agreement to supply Ipswich Town FC with beers at their Portman Road stadium replacing the 14 year old association with Greene King which in turn replaced the long links between the Club and Tolly Cobbold.
Southwold Lighthouse is a lighthouse in Southwold, Suffolk, England. It was constructed by Trinity House from 1887 and was taken into service in 1890. It replaced three lighthouses which had been condemned due to serious coastal erosion. The lights it houses are white when seen from directly out to sea (for navigation) and red from the sides (as a warning). It has additional charm due to the fact that it is situated within an area of town houses.
In the interior, the Southwold rood screen is considered by many to be the finest in the county. It stretches all the way across the church, and is three separate screens; a rood screen across the chancel arch and parclose screens across the north and south chancel aisles. A 15th Century clock jack stands at the west end. He has an axe and bell which he uses to strike the time, and has a twin at Blythburgh.[7] The Southwold jack is special because it has a name - Southwold Jack - and he is one of the symbols of the Adnams brewery. The font has been badly mutilated but is still very impressive with its large ornate cover. The roof in the chancel is painted and its height gives the church a very open feeling. The present-day church community life is extremely diverse and makes good use of St Edmund's Hall (also destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt) to the rear of the church. The Parish of Southwold is part of the Sole Bay Team Ministry,[8] along with the Parishes of Blythburgh, Sotherton, Reydon, South Cove, Uggeshall, Walberswick and Wangford.[9][10][11]
Stowupland is centred around several village greens won Suffolk village of the year in 2006. The village also has a petrol station, post office, two butchers, Chinese takeaway, chip shop and two public houses - The Crown and The Retreat. As well as the high school there is a primary school which has an attached pre-school. Various motor mechanics can be found in the village including a motorcycle specialist called MotoTechnics. Sports are well catered for with football, cricket and bowls clubs available. A gym and indoor sports facilities are available for public use at the high school.
The total length of the building is 461 feet (140 m). Significant alterations from later periods include the 315 foot (96 m) spire and a two-storey cloister, the only such in England, as well as the vaults of the nave and chancel. Standing at 315 feet, the cathedral's spire is the second tallest in England, and dominates the city skyline ? only the spire of Salisbury Cathedral is higher at 404 feet. Along with Salisbury and Ely the cathedral lacks a ring of bells which makes them the only three English cathedrals without them. One of the best views of the cathedral spire is from St. James's Hill on Mousehold Heath.
