Places of interest in Brandon, IP27
As well as the Anglican parish church, Lakenheath has churches representing the Methodist, Strict Baptist and Pentecostal (AOG) denominations. All three of the non-Anglican church buildings are also primarily constructed of local flint, albeit with later modifications in brick.
Norwich Cathedral has a fine selection of 61 misericords, dating from 3 periods - 1480, 1515 and mid-19th century. The subject matter is varied, mythological, everyday subjects and portraits.
The castle remains a museum and art gallery today and still contains many of its first exhibits, as well as many more recent ones. Two galleries feature the museum's decorative art collections, including costume, textiles, jewelry, glass, ceramics and silverware, and a large display of ceramic teapots. Other gallery themes include Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, Queen Boudica and the Iceni tribe, Ancient Egypt, and natural history.
The stadium has also occasionally hosted music concerts. Status Quo played a concert there in 1997.[35]Elton John, supported by Lulu, appeared at the venue in 2005, performing what was at the time the largest concert ever to have been staged in Norwich.[36]George Michael gave a performance there on 12 June 2007, supported by Sophie Ellis-Bextor.[37] The John and Michael concerts both attracted crowds of over 20,000 people.[36][38] Andrew Cullen, the director of sales and marketing for the Carrow Road ground, told BBC Radio Norfolk prior to the George Michael performance that he hoped such concerts would become an annual summer event for the venue, if big enough star names could be attracted.[39]
The Saturday service mirrors the off peak service. The only two differences are that: 1) There is an earlier first departure from Southminster at 05:17, calling all stations to Shenfield. 2) There is no peak hour supplementation, the gap in service remaining hourly throughout, with the exception of the 22:17 to Wickford and 22:56 to London.
