Gravesend railway station

Gravesend already has the High Speed One services and from the late 2010s/early 2020s, Thameslink trains from Bedford, Luton, St. Albans, Cambridge and Peterborough will call at this station in addition to Crossrail services will be the new termanal at this station when the line will be extended from Abbey Wood, this mixture of south to north services and east to west services will make Gravesend a major rail terminal.

Tilbury

The curve and narrowness of the river here made it a suitable place to construct forts for the defence of London against foreign invaders. The first permanent fort at Tilbury[12] was a D-shaped blockhouse built in 1539 by Henry VIII and initially called the "Thermitage Bulwark", because it was on the site of a hermitage dissolved in 1536. The Tilbury blockhouse was designed to cross-fire with a similar structure at New Tavern, Gravesend. During the Armada campaign, the fort was reinforced with earthworks and a palisade, and a boom of chains, ships' masts, and cables was stretched across the Thames to Gravesend, anchored by lighters. The Fort was rebuilt under Charles I and is now owned by English Heritage.

Gravesend, Kent

On 10 August 2003, Gravesend recorded one of the highest temperatures since records began in the United Kingdom, with a reading of 38.1 degrees Celsius (100.6 degrees Fahrenheit),[9] only beaten by Brogdale, near Faversham, 26 miles (42 km) to the ESE.[10].Brogdale, which is run by a volunteer, only reports its data once a month; Gravesend which is a Met Office site reports its data each hour.[11]

Stanford-le-Hope

Stanford-le-Hope is a town and Church of England parish situated in the county of Essex, England. The town is within the unitary authority of Thurrock and located 23.8 miles (38.4 km) east of Charing Cross in London. Its principal claim to fame is that Joseph Conrad lived and wrote there. The town is served by Stanford-le-Hope railway station.Often known locally simply as Stanford, the town is home to many working-class commuters working in London, thanks to its proximity to the capital and its c2c-operated London, Tilbury and Southend Railway rail connections. One of the main local industries is the nearby oil refinery at Shell Haven, and it soon will be home to the proposed DP World deep sea port, major business and logistics park. Many residents also travel along the nearby A13 to work in the Lakeside Shopping Centre.

Wrotham transmitting station

It is owned and operated by National Grid Wireless.
