Whitwick

The purpose of Friends of Holly Hayes Wood is to own, safeguard and improve the areas of Holly Hayes Wood, Coalville Meadows and Forest Rock Wood, or any other adjacent area to Holly Hayes Wood, by demonstrating the value of woodland to the local community and proving the concept of community owned woodland.

Thringstone

In the Garendon Cartulary (or Chartulary) of 1300, the village is recorded as 'Threngston', and the spelling begins to stabilize thereafter.[4]

Old Oscott

Old Oscott is an area of Great Barr, Birmingham, England (previously in the parish of Handsworth, Staffordshire). The suburb forms a triangle bounded to the north by Pheasey, to the west by Perry Beeches, and to the east by Kingstanding. The Birmingham City Council ward that covers the area is called simply Oscott.

Great Barr Hall

Financial problems led the Scott Family (who gave their name to the nearby Scott Arms pub and shopping centre), to lease out the hall from about 1788 to Samuel Galton, and for some years the Hall became a venue for meetings of the Lunar Society. It is said to be the 'favourite place of meeting' of this illustrious body. Recent stone memorials to the Lunar Society, the "Moonstones", are sited at the nearby Asda supermarket.

Lunar Society Moonstones

The designs are by Steve Field and were executed by two stone masons, Malcolm Sier and Michael Scheurmann.
